EXTERIORS OF NEO-CLASSIC BUILDINGS in BONN, GERMANY for a production of Anna Karenina 1986 The architecture of the city of Bonn reflects many of the houses in St. Petersburg during the late 1700’s. Greek columns are the recurring motif, and a subtle ochre color give the buildings a warm patina.

A PALACE APART found off the Romantic Road south of Rothenburg. A semi-deserted mini-town with buildings built around the palace. Very few visitors, and as if it had been enchanted. We were allowed to roam, even on the deserted attic floor, captured in evening light.

TRIESTE, ITALY for a production of the short film, Fantasia on the Childhood of Busoni. The composer F. Busoni lived with his family for several years in Treiste. Their apartments faced the opera house.

INTERIORS for a production of Anna Karenina IN BONN, and throughout BAVARIA, are a collection of early 19 century palaces and elegant homes. I was sent by the German Bureau of Historical Monuments to many houses that best expressed the tastes of the Russians who used Bavaria as their winter residences.

CASINO - BADEN BADEN for a production of Anna Karinina Bavaria was the center for Russian gambling, and almost all the Badens are relics from the 1800’s where Russians wintered extravagantly. The Casino at Baden-Baden is one of the most extravagant.
